Denzel James Franklin Palm
The Colors Are Alive
Places, emotions, self – reflection and the evolution of portraiture. Denzel Palm's third solo exhibition, The Colors Are Alive, explores many themes specifically, curiosity. Denzel was initially inspired by early 20th century cubic artists. He was interested in faces constructed of unusual shapes and the placement of eyes, mouths, and noses in non-traditional areas of the face. Denzel experiments with color and medium to create six portraits that are meant to represent a memory of a place, a feeling or his inner self. He uses the signature puzzle pieces made from crayon to express the act of physically making art and connecting pieces together to construct a large image or pattern.
